At Crown Street Press, artists work with printmakers to develop plates for original works of art. Artists often combine many different techniques in the same print, and at Crown Street our printmakers use their skills to guide this complex process. The printmakers help the artists to realize their best possible work in the medium of printmaking.
Works produced at Crown Street Press are represented in many private collections, Australian National Galleries, at all State galleries, and at most Regional art galleries. They can be seen in many commercial galleries in Australia, and in galleries overseas.
Examples of work produced at Crown Street Press can be seen on this website at The Gallery, or by appointment with James Whitington.

Where is it?
Crown Street Press was until recently (2004) situated in an 1860s terrace house on Crown Street in East Sydney’s famous Italian sector. Almost opposite the Hard Rock Cafe on Crown Street, it was an easy walk from Town Hall or Museum Stations. The Press itself has moved to the fresh clean air of Paxton, in the Hunter Valley and can now be hired by the week or the month. (see CSP Studio Residency)
The Facilities
Crown Street Press is equiped to develop and print etchings, relief prints and monotypes. We use a specially built Hilldav etching press, with a bed 1 metre by 2. We also have an enormous 2 and a half metre wide roller for large mono or relief prints.
