The residence of Crown Street Press is situated on half an acre of land in the country village of Paxton in the Lower Hunter Valley approximately 2 hours north of Sydney and 5 minutes to local vineyards. Artists, art enthusiasts and holiday makers can hire the residence for a period of one week up to six months on application. ACCOMMODATION: Accommodation only hire is $550 per week including utilities and broadband internet*. Can sleep 2 in 2 double beds (total 4) with ensuite bathrooms in the main house, with additional accommodation for 2 in the outdoor tree house (its lovely sleeping in natural air conditioning). The residence has 3 indoor bathrooms in total (shower and bath) plus one outdoor bathroom. There is a kitchen, laundry and large paved pergola for outdoor living (with hammock). ACCOMMODATION, ARTIST STUDIO AND POTTERS SHED: In addition to the accommodation rental, artists may hire the artists studio and potters shed for an additional negotiable fee. Residents can use all artists facilities including the printmaking/painting studio and potter's hut (with visits by Bobbie, our friendly Blue Tongue Lizard) The etching press is a Hilldav etching press with a bed 1 metre by 2 and the linocut/woodcut press is 18 x 24 inches. The studio is gloriously lit with natural light and halogen directional lighting. To use art studio artists must have personal accident insurance. Locals or short term visitors may rent the studio and potters shed at negotiable fee without accommodation. |

Visit the historic township of Wollombi (12 minutes away) which includes the Wollombi Cultural Centre with available exhibition space. James Whitington is an Exhibition Curator for the Wollombi Cultural Centre and can arrange exhibitions for artists.
Paxton is a great place to stay while exploring the natural beauty of the Watagan Mountains, Congewai Valley and Ellalong Lagoon. Explore Wollombi and its historic buildings, including the old staging post from the days of Cobb and Co, enjoy the local wines and visit some horse studs. There is plenty to inspire.
